My 2017 iPad and $36 clone Airpod Pros are sufficient for me, so I’m not looking to buy any of this stuff. I’ve been using CL to find a cheap deal on an elongated toilet, but my CL app still sends alerts on other categories I've looked at before.
Large quantities of various brand new Apple items showing up on CL lately, sometimes in some of the more industrial neighborhoods as well, like Granite City. I’m trying to think of a logical reason why someone would have an entire case of Airpods, for example. Then there’s three unopened iPads. Really? Are unemployed people spending their extra $600/wk on expensive toys that they don’t need or is something else going on. The first two things that pop into my head is that they’re either stolen or counterfeit. Could there be another logical reason?

On CL, it’s probably stolen.
Knockoffs and counterfeits are better done on Amazon and eBay
CL does have a by-dealer section, so stores can list ads on there

Stolen from a store room during the riots.

I’d say they’re most likely stolen. There’s also the chance that a business in the area had a liquidation auction as well, but let’s be honest stolen is more likely.
I see the same thing with new, unopened cordless tools in my area quite often. I have very little doubt that they were stolen from the nearby Lowe’s with the person figuring they can turn a quicker profit through Facebook Marketplace than the pawn shop.

Apple Store in Scottsdale was broken into and looted a few months ago. Supposedly they emptied the store preemptively, but maybe Scottsdale PD had them leave some bait behind.

A lot of those power tools and pallet deals are from overstock and returned/damaged packaging sales that the distribution centers sell for a flat rate regardless of what is in them. I know a guy that buys them by the truck load and breaks them down. It’s legit and he has made good money doing it but it’s akin to those storage wars people. It could be a pallet of DeWalt or it could be a pallet of paint primer. When you buy mystery pallets in bulk though it tends to work out in your favor I guess.
That being said... boxes of unopened Apple products has my sketch-o-meter singing.

Oh yeah right after we have looting...hmmm. We had a guy in our union steal some boxes off the loading dock during an Apple WWDC show install and he got caught. Wow these thieves are geniuses, I bet the police are very aware if we are.

If these airpods are STILL in their original factory shipping package (the big brown box), then it’s likely been stolen. I’d call the local police department’s non-emergency number and point them to the craigslist ad.

So you can take an elongated crap?
As to your post, methinks thou overthinkest.

I correspond with a a major league conservative (troll) in Tennessee and I asked him how scenes like you mention here differ from the Boston Tea Party and his reply was that that all the tea got thrown into the harbor rather than being taken home and brewed or sold. No, I’m sure none of that happened. But it’s a salient point nonetheless.

But they’d have had to work for it because reports said the Apple stores were almost impenetrable.

The Boston Tea Party is a fun story about civil disobedience in a dictatorship that had no significant effect on the eventual rebellion in British North America.

Ransacked distribution facility? Certainly stolen during the riots but maybe not from a store.

That may be so, but that’s not how many people see it. The key in all of this is not to be sucked into fabricated arguments but to be equipped with cogent counternarratives.

In the past seven minutes, I’ve thought more about Apple products than I have in the past seven weeks.
